JUST FINISHED MOCKINGJAYYYYY!!!! finally. I have read the Hunger Games trilogy. I can now officially say that. Go me!For starters, I wanted to let all of those people ( none who which read my blog ) who thought this book/ending sucked, that they were wrong. In my opinion, of course. It was awesome.
I was worried in book two how Collins would do this whole Katniss love triangle/rebellion thing in book three and I thought it would pretty much be impossible. I was ( SPOILERS AHEAD, id stop right here if you haven't read these books but want to!) worried that the whole third book would pretty much be a battle for Katniss' heart and not about what was actually going on. But, that wasn't the case here. I loved this book, the following of the build-up of the rebellion, where Katniss stood in all of it, and how there wasn't too much lovey-dovey crap. I mean, who has time for that during a rebellion anyway? No, this book was SAD and depressing, and a little slower paced but still page-turning. I wished more people had died in the end like either Peeta or Gale ( or even Katniss herself- it seemed like she was immortal almost) so I didn't have to be disappointed that she ended up with Peeta. But the fact that she did just made me more sad, and although I don't like happy endings, I like things to pretty much resolve and they did and I think it was a job well done in that department.
I especially enjoyed the combat scenes and the District 13 evacuation. The whole hijacking of Peeta was a little strange, but I can handle some strange.
5/5 for sure. Catching Fire was probably my favourite just because of the pace, but this was pretty darn good for a book 3 in a trilogy. I was explaining to Shaun what happened throughout these books because I was just so excited that something big was going to happen. I like when books gets to me like that! The Hunger Games deserves all the hype it's getting for sure.. how many more sleeps til the movie? :)

Aww so glad you've finally finished and enjoyed the last book. I don't know if I loved it or love to be annoyed by it. I don't mind the bittersweet ending. I think it was more my perception that there was a bit too much pushy anti war stuff in there rather than it being a true portrayal of Katniss' story. Plus I'm more annoyed at all the snarky comments about Gale being cold when he def wasn't! Argh, I shouldn't start the Hunger Games ranting because it will never end.

that's exactly why I loved it! to me the anti-war stuff made the story a bit fuller. I think I would have liked it much less if I were forced to just hear Katniss the whole time. I agree about the Gale comments though although, it did make the ending a little less painful for me. Gale's so manly, I'm sure there will be a much kinder girl in two he can hook up with ( hello companion novel?!)

I should really read this series! I don't know what has been holding me off of it for so long! :) Glad you enjoyed it though - I know many people felt that the series went downhill after the first book!

I liked Mockingjay but I'm in the camp of people who were disappointed by the ending. I was happy that she ended up with Peeta but I didn't like how it happened. What bothered me most though was that they totally skipped over Finnick's death. I was much more attached to him than Prue and I was really upset that they barely acknowledged his passing.
